General Meeting and Bylaws Amendments, Sep 10

The Roseway Neighborhood Association will hold a general and board meeting on Tuesday, September 10 at 7pm. The principal topic will be housekeeping changes to the bylaws, including:

• There is a neighborhood association bylaws template that represents best practice and vetted language. Our 2015 bylaws borrow from that template, but omitted a number of sections. We propose to add back detail from the template where it helps to clarify our purpose, officer roles, process, etc, while attempting to make the bylaws no longer than necessary.

• Change the officer titles from chair and vice chair to president and vice president to match ORS 65 and common NA practice.

• Clarify our decision-making process.

The full proposed bylaws changes are available for review here. They have been approved by the board. The members at this general meeting will vote on whether to ratify these changes. You can vote if you opt to be a member and are a resident, property owner, or individual who hold a business license located within the neighborhood boundaries.

We will also discuss goals and logistics for our annual community/general meeting in October. In the October meeting, we will elect board members and review the state of the neighborhood association. If you have any questions about these meetings, please email <rosewayneighborhood@gmail.com>.

• In-person location: Recovery Café Roseway at 3516 NE 71st Ave (enter through the wooden door off of 71st). Please try to arrive before 7pm. After that, we will post a number that you can text to be let in.
