Help support summer concerts in Roseway!

You can go to the Portland Parks Foundation site right now to make a tax-deductible donation to Glenhaven Park (in the pull-down menu under “Apply my donation here”).

The summer concert series is supported entirely by business sponsorships and individual donations. Every contribution gets us closer to reaching our goal of a multi-concert series in July 2013.

Thanks for your support!

Free music in Glenhaven Park

We’re just a little more than a week away from Roseway’s first Portland Parks & Recreation summer concert!

Pete Krebs & his Portland Playboys will deliver old-school Western swing beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at Glenhaven Park. Look for the stage on the NE Siskiyou Street side of the park, near the playground. Kids art activities begin at 6:15 p.m.

This free family-friendly event is free and open to all ages, and well-mannered dogs on leashes are welcome.

Bring a picnic, or bring cash to buy goodies from Whole Foods Market and Masala Pop Indian spiced popcorn. If you’re 21 or older, you can also bring in your own wine and beer, thanks to a special event permit.

During intermission, organizers will pass the hat to help raise money for next summer. The hope is to expand to a multi-concert series in 2013. (You can also make an online
tax-deductible donation to the Portland Parks Foundation. You can earmark your donation to benefit our Roseway parks in the future — Glenhaven Park for summer concerts or Wellington Park for summer movies. Donate $10 or more by Sept. 15, and get an in-store coupon for 25% off your next Columbia Sportswear visit at any Portland-area location.)

This promises to be a great event. Thanks to our sponsors for making this happen! Please support them and look for some of them at the concert — Albina Community Bank, Brickhouse Pizzeria, Dharma Rain Zen Center, Kristan Knapp Fund, Laurelwood Public House & Brewery, Madison South Neighborhood Association, Multnomah County Cultural Coalition, Oregon Cultural Trust, Pacific Power, Park City Pub, Realty Trust Group (Sue Coon and James Coon), Roseway Neighborhood Association and Roseway Roots daycare.

Hey, kids, let’s put on a summer concert!

Want to help boost the fun factor in Roseway? Now’s your chance.

Roseway is partnering with Portland Parks & Recreation to bring the city’s free, family-friendly summer concert series to Glenhaven Park in 2012. Pete Krebs and his Portland Playboys will christen our foray into the series with their brand of Western swing.

Concerts in the park include food vendors, hands-on visual art activities for children and a chance to meet your neighbors. Bring a picnic and your dancing shoes, and well-heeled dogs on leashes. Under a special-use permit, you can also bring in your own beer and wine.

Roseway’s concert will be Saturday, July 28, 2012, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Our hope is to expand to a series of concerts as early as next summer.

To make all this happen, we need your help.

Each neighborhood that takes part in the citywide series raises the money to cover expenses, such as performer fees and equipment. Your contribution will help start a tradition that will grow over time and enliven our neighborhood.

No donation is too small. And if you’re a business that would like to become a sponsor at the $150 level or above, this is the perfect chance to connect with many potential new customers. Through your tax-deductible sponsorship, you have the potential to reach:

·        A citywide audience with inclusion in the Portland Parks & Recreation summer concert and movie season brochure.

·        A targeted neighborhood audience through other promotional information.

As a sponsor, you also can bring in a promotional table to the events you support. Sponsors often hand out literature about their business, gather mailing list signatures, or hold raffles or other giveaways.

This year only, sponsors who give a minimum of $150 will receive the same benefits as those at the Good Neighbor Sponsor level (normally $250). And because Glenhaven is hosting only one concert this year, sponsors who give $250 or more can table at one to three additional park concerts, depending on the giving level. Go to for a sponsor form, which details sponsorship levels and their benefits to your business.

Please note that sponsor payments are due May 15 to be included in promotional materials.
